Fair Conversion Needed
In an interview for weekly Vreme published on February26, Real-Estate Committee President Nebojsa Nesovanovic assessed the changes of the Construction Law as substantial and pleaded for the efficient and fair solution for conversion.
When it comes to the Construction Law, Nesovanovic in particular outlined that the public sector won't be any more in control of the activities of private sector, but will only monitor if the laws are respected. ‘'For example, if we talk about the control of the projects, public sector will verify only whether it was performed by the person who has the licence, and won't verify any more the content of the project", Nesovanovic told, adding that it is a substantial change and that the public sector should be prepared for it. Asked about the conversion, Nesovanovic said that FIC earlier position was conversion without compensation. In the meantime FIC is working on the new proposal that would include solution that is in line with the decision of the Constitutional Court from November 2013 regarding conversion, with the rules of state aid and compatible with the restitution process. ''Conversion should be quick, fair and financially feasible", Nesovanovic concluded.
