New Leadership for the HR Committee

HR Committee elected new leadership and agreed on main topics for a two-year programme on March 15.

Milena Jaksic Papac, Attorney at Law/ Senior Associate at Karanovic & Nikolic o.a.d. was elected as Committee President and Jelena Zikic, HR Director in G4S Secure Solutions was re-elected as Vice President. We therefore use this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to both Milena and Jelena for accepting the roles of HR Committee President and Vice President, thus committing themselves to two years of investing significant energy and efforts to the HR Committee work.

New Committee President Milena Jaksic Papac is engaged in the Karanovic Nikolic at the Department of labour regulations, and deals with those issues for 10 years. Presenting herself at the meeting, she said that she is in contact with the employers on a daily basis and can easily spot their problems in the implementation of labour regulation. Milena Jaksic Papac reminded of her engagement within the Committee, saying she was one of the first authors of the WB text on labour regulations, and that she was at the position of Committee Vice President in the period 2011-2014 when the intense FIC activities led to significant achievements in the Labour Law adopted in 2014. As key issues to be tackled in the upcoming two years she cited staff leasing as it is still not regulated while it exists in practice, changes of the labour regulations that are expected this year, and Law on Evidence in Labour as it is archaic and represents unneeded burden for companies.

Jelena Zikic outlined that she is in HR for about 14 years, out of which two and a half years in G4S company where she heads HR department. Previously she worked for Metro, Telenor and Telenor Bank, which all provided her extensive experience in HR. Presenting herself at the meeting, she described herself as someone enthusiastic for her job.  As for the programme, she outlined the “soft” aspects of Committee functioning, namely better communication and follow-up between members on the developments on the laws and communication with the Ministry. As for the issues to be tackled she agreed with the priorities cited by candidates for Committee President, including amendments of labour regulations, simplification of evidence in labour and digitalization, as well as Law on Occupational Health and Safety and Staff leasing.

FIC Board of Directors and Executive Office express highest appreciation and gratefulness to former Committee President Dejan Jecmenica for his valuable contribution to the Committee work during his mandate.

Members also agreed on the main issues to be tackled in the next two years. They include: engagement on the expected changes of the Labour Law; regulating of the staff leasing; creation of adequate legal framework for engagement of students and various types of working practices; simplifying employment related administration, file keeping and adjustments with technology developments; cooperation with the minister of labour; and digitalization in this area. Main topics for the programme were finalized by the Committee members and the final programme would be formally endorsed soon.
