FEFA - Digital World for FIC Members

On June 21, FEFA with FIC support organized presentation of FEFA master studies on digital transformation and the blockchain technology that is expected to play significant role in financial transactions in the future.

FIC Executive Director Ana Tozzi thanked FEFA for the opportunity for FIC members to get insight in the innovative projects in the area of digitalization, and said that it brings cooperation within the two organizations on a higher level. “FEFA and FIC have 5 years long cooperation through students’ practices. In this moment we have two FEFA trainees to whom we offer the opportunity to learn something new and improve their skills, while they bring us support on the White Book project”, she said. Besides the presentation to members, FEFA offers FIC members 10% discount of the tuition fee on its master studies programme Digital Transformation, intended for professionals willing to go beyond customary use of digital tools for running business and decision making. President of Council at FEFA Goran Pitic said that this academic institution aims to establish interaction between the companies and education system, in order to enable exchange of knowledge, networking and tackling issues of modern world. “On one side, it helps us shape curriculum in line with the needs of companies, and on the other hand we offer some opinions, advice and ideas to the companies, that found themselves in a very specific moment”, he said, drawing attention to some confusion and intent of strategic repositioning in businesses due to the actual situation in the world. Pitic, who is also FIC BoD member, outlined that FIC also recognized the issue of digital environment as one of the key topics to deal with. In this respect, he pointed out the observations of IT professionals and analysts on the discrepancy between the exponential development of the technology and limited capacity of the humans to adapt to such changes. “Globalization that marked the 20th century was followed by hyper connectivity enabled by internet. These two brought together, and we are faced with the so called digital globalization”, he said. Digital transformation also changes the business model, he added. With the intention to offer better understanding of this new world, FEFA designed the Master Programme Digital Transformation. Digital transformation is not technology, it is people, Goran Pitic said, adding that change of mindset is the key. Study program content provides opportunity to learn about digital economics, applied data science, big data, strategies of digital transformation, IT project management, digital marketing, human resources and applications of artificial intelligence. With the support of the numerous guest lecturers and leading professionals, it gives competitive advantage for digital transformation leaders in Serbia. As a result of cooperation with FEFA, FIC members get 10% discount on tuition fee.

Blockchain technology in transactions was presented by the companies GameCredits and GCPN, FEFA partners at the Masters programme. Blockchain will have impact in the world of finances comparable to that of internet in media, they told the audience. Risks and limitations were also presented, with non-critical approach to blockchain technology and unrealistic expectations being outlined as the key risk. Such risk is a consequence of the relevant experience in this domain. It was explained that the blockchain is protocol able to put order in transactions. It is decentralized, allows users to hold their own digital wallet and to be the only ones holding the identity key; it has strong encryption built-in to protect security; and enables immediate transfer of funds.
