FIC Presentation at CEFTA Week

On November 21, FIC Executive Director Ana Tozzi held presentation within CEFTA week in Serbia, in which she outlined the importance of the liberalized market and stability for attracting the investments.

As key recommendations she cited: creating stable political & macro-economical framework; developing infrastructure networks; enabling private sector development and PPPs; fostering free trade and not protectionism; make business friendly climate, EU harmonized, with cutting red tape; and creating capacity for innovation. Participating on the second session “Towards the regional investment agenda”, FIC Executive Director elaborated further the recommendations, and for fostering free trade she cited balanced custom tariffs, minimal non-tariffs barriers and easy customs and inspection procedures. When it comes to innovation, Ana Tozzi drew attention to the importance of innovation in both public and private sector, and supply of highly educated workforce. To illustrate the need for progress, she showed rankings of Serbia, CEFTA region and some other countries in the significant reports, such as Competitiveness Report and World Bank Doing Business Report. The session included joint video conference with UNCTAD, and officials from the RCC, CEFTA Secretariat, RCC and Vienna Institute for Economic Studies. It was the second day of the CEFTA week, organized as part of the Serbian chairmanship to CEFTA, and the first day was dedicated to the meeting of the CEFTA parties, CEFTA Subcommittee on Trade in Services.  

 

White Book

White Book
Published yearly since 2003, goal of the White Book is to enable removing unneeded barriers and make doing business in Serbia easier, thus enabling better inflow of investments. It is promoted every year in the fourth quarter at the prestigious high-level event.
