FIC Views on Taxes Promoted in Novosti

In the interview for Novosti daily published on July 31, FIC Vice President Dimitrije Knjeginjic expressed hope that the announced and recent changes in the Tax Administration will lead to the more consistent implementation of tax regulation

“It’s good news that the Tax Administration no longer deals with one non-core activity, namely the drainage fee, and that the number of branches will be changed and the unit for harmonization of tax procedure created”, he said. When it comes to the Tax Administration, Dimitrije Knjeginjic also drew attention to the importance of education of employees, and risk-based assessment. Apart from the consistency, he outlined two other key issues for the investors: sudden changes of tax rules without public discussion and without proper transition period; and parafiscal charges. FIC Vice President also promoted the recent Dialogue for Change event dedicated to taxes, by which FIC tried to enable improvement through dialogue. As improvements in the past period he cited introduction of the possibility to file tax return electronically, which is possible for 90% of tax returns at the moment. The interview can be accessed here below. It was transmitted by 4 web portals and 1 print media.
