On December 15, FIC President Mike Michel participated at the conference “Economist – World in 2021”. He was a panelist at the panel “Virus and the Economy”, where other participants included representatives of domestic and foreign chambers of commerce. The main topics were consequences of pandemic and the ways to overcome the crisis. FIC President said that FIC reacted promptly and efficiently to the 1st wave of pandemic crisis in March by focusing on ensuring the health and safety of employees as a top priority, as well as maintaining business continuity and adapting to the new circumstances. “In fact, we’ve been working together more closely than ever, as this crisis is a shared challenge that requires a shared response”, he said. Asked about the impact of the crisis on the investments, he said that while the net inflow of investments dropped in Serbia as well as in the countries worldwide, FIC members have managed to save jobs. Mike Michel promoted the recently launched White Book, saying that the preparations weren’t disturbed by the crisis, but that the focus was shifted, with changes introduced in order to provide the best proposals in the moment of the COVID-19 crisis. “Improvements are urgently needed in personal data protection, trade, real estate and public procurement, with digitalization seen as an increasing opportunity”, he said, speaking about the priorities outlined in the WB. This was the very important occasion to promote FIC views, a month after the White Book Launch, to the large audience. It was the high-level conference opened by the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, and with participation of several ministers, as well as diplomatic corps and business leaders. The panel was moderated by the freelance PR, Communications i event management expert Vanja Kovacev. The event was held in the House of National Assembly of Serbia, in respect of all the measures in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the panel in which the FIC president participated was held online.
