FIC members used the opportunity to gain insight on the amendments on the AML Law on June 25, at a dedicated FIC Insight Event held online.

The Amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism was presented by the author of the FIC White Book text on AML Nenad Kovacevic, Attorney at Law at CMS Beograd. At the webinar, he provided a brief retrospective of all the amendments to the Law so far and tried to clarify whether the amendments have made the Law easier or more difficult and what burden on liable burden they brought. Focus was on the latest amendments, where he gave the analysis of the impact on liable parties’ business and reference to previously established obligations. Issues addressed in particular include: definitions, new liable parties, new obligations for parties, in particular the obligation of risk analysis and identification and verification of the identity of the beneficial owner /client and the special competencies of the supervisory authorities. Around 40 members attended the event. Members had an opportunity to engage in discussion.  FIC Insight is a new service and event for FIC members launched in 2020 and put on pause in the previous months due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The event on AML was planned for March and delayed for that reason.
