As a follow-up to FIC initiative on digitalization of financial services, FIC and mobile operators discussed with the authorities the possibility to enable mobile operators to issue the electronic identities to the citizens. Fruitful meeting held on March 3 brought important conclusions and enabled planning further steps in the cooperation with the institutions participating at the meeting: The Office for Information Technologies and E-Government, Prime Minister’s Office and Telecommunications and Tourism Ministry. Based on the conclusions from the meeting, mobile operators prepared regulatory analysis of the electronic form of contracts and proposed further steps. Main proposal concerns the need to change the Law on Electronic Communication in order to enable the electronic form to be fully recognized in line with the existing regulations and to improve legal certainty. Participants at the meeting on March 3rd included Assistant Minister of Telecommunications Sava Savic, Director of the E-Government Office Mihailo Jovanovic, Director of the Public Administration Reform team in the Office of the Prime Minister of Serbia Marta Arsovska Tomovska and Advisor in the Team Nevena Manic, as well as all three mobile operators – Telekom Srbija, Telenor and Vip mobile and FIC Regulatory Officer Jelena Lazarevic.
