At the conference “The Economist: World in 2020” on December 11, FIC President Yana Mikhailova outlined the need to invest in innovation and education in order to achieve better economic growth in Serbia.

Education should be adapted to the needs of the economy, she said. “The world changes quickly and huge number of jobs will disappear, therefore there is a need to be adaptable and learn for new jobs”, Yana Mikhailova said. When it comes to improving business climate, it is important to pursue structural reforms and privatization of public enterprises, she said, explaining that the predictability is of key importance for FIC. As an example of improvement of business climate, she cited digitalization as it increased the efficiency of public administration. Yana Mikhailova outlined that the EU accession process favours foreign investments. Other participants at the panel included representatives of business associations NALED, AmCham, German-Serbian Chamber and SCC. Conference was opened by Labour Minister Zoran Djordjevic.
