In addition to passenger growth, the airport also recorded an increase in operational activity. From January through September, more than 72,000 flights were operated, a 3.8% increase compared to the same period last year. The summer peak played a significant role in these results. In the third quarter (July–September) alone, Belgrade Airport handled approximately 3.1 million passengers, an increase of 6.7% compared to the same period in 2025, with around 28,500 flights operated (+3.1%).
The summer season was historically significant for the airport, which achieved two major milestones: for the first time ever, the airport served over one million passengers in both July and August. The momentum peaked on July 31, when the airport set a new single-day record, managing 40,584 passengers and 378 flights within 24 hours. During the 2026 summer season, Belgrade Airport offered its most extensive network to date, linking travelers to 118 global destinations, including six intercontinental routes.
“The record-breaking results achieved in the first nine months of 2026 are a testament to our team’s dedication, the continuous investments in our infrastructure and the synergy we have built with our airline partners. We remain committed to further enhancing our connectivity and providing a seamless travel experience for all our passengers as we head into the final months of the year”, stated Chivoine Rem, Belgrade Airport CEO.
