FIC Serbia was an institutional partner of TGI Group International in organizing the 8th Serbian Real Estate and Infrastructure Development Conference. Our Infrastructure & Real Estate Committee President, Mr. Mario Kijanović, participated in the ‘Retail, Logistics, Shopping Centers and Hospitality Real Estate Market: New Trends to Grow Your Business‘ panel. On that occasion, he emphasized that current global challenges inevitably affect the construction industry and that a sound regulatory framework, consistent implementation of regulations, efficiency, and further digitization of procedures are crucial for further development of the real estate market in Serbia. “It is essential not only for investors but also for the citizens of Serbia to introduce elements of the green agenda through the latest amendments to the Law on Planning and Construction, which undoubtedly will improve the quality of life for all of us. In this way, investments in green construction and further environmental protection will be encouraged. At the same time, disposal and construction waste movement control will be introduced,” said Mr. Kijanovic. Further, he pointed out that the proposed amendments will open up to now “locked” and often neglected locations for further development. “With the proposed changes of the Law, a new cycle of investments is expected, resulting in increased employment, higher real estate sales tax, property tax, and income tax payment. Consequently, it is necessary to promote Serbia further as a good investment destination, which FIC Serbia has been successfully doing for over 20 years,” concluded Kijanović.
