Decisively towards increase of Serbian market competitiveness

Foreign Investors Council held the regular annual Assembly and elected new management

Belgrade, 5th, December 2013 – Frederic Coin, President of the Executive Board of the Societe Generale Bank Serbia, was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Foreign Investors Council at the regular annual session of the Assembly held today. Coin was re-elected after the decision of the Council to appoint him to that position in early September, when he replaced the former President Costin Borc.

Ove Fredheim, CEO of Telenor will hold the post of FIC Vice President elected as substitute to FIC President. Srdjan Lazovic, Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs for CEFTA Region in British American Tobacco SEE, will hold the post of FIC Vice President elected as spokesperson of the Association.

Other members of the Board of Directors include: CEO of Carlsberg Serbia Group and SEE Gabor Bekefi, COO of Delhaize Serbia John Kyritsis, CEO of Fiat automobili Srbija Antonio Cesare Ferrara, CEO of Lafarge Serbia Dimitrije Knjeginjic, Regional Director Nestlé Adriatic Ansgar Bornemann, and West Balkans Commercial Director of PepsiCo Michalis Orfanoudakis.

Re-elected FIC President Frederic Coin presented the team that will lead the Association in next two years and pointed out that FIC will continue to advocate for improvement of business environment, better implementation of laws and simplifying administrative framework. He underlined that „the new FIC management will decisively work on implementation of FIC recommendations, in order to improve business conditions and raise the competitiveness of the Serbian market".

Assembly meeting was also an opportunity to review past activities and discuss plans for 2014. FIC Assembly adopted the Annual Report for 2013, presented by FIC President Frederic Coin and chairmen of 7 FIC committees. In 2013, FIC continued to expand its activities. Apart from the most renowned projects – the White Book 2013 and Reality Check Conference – FICorganized more than 20 official meetings with the state representatives, carried out more than 20 regulatory projects, responded to the interest of more than 150 stakeholders, and had speakers at more than 10 various conferences.

FIC members also endorsed the proposals to amend FIC Statute to ensure further strengthening and expansion of the Association.
