JTI Opens New Production Line in Senta, EUR 3 MN Invested

Serbian PM Ana Brnabic was present at the Japan Tobacco International (JTI) factory in Senta yesterday to open a new production line, in which EUR 3 mn had been invested.

The new line will enable the JTI to produce new brands in the Sen-ta-based factory, which will have a posi-tive effect on Serbia’s balance of trade be-cause, instead of importing these prod-ucts, they will be exported to the markets of Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia, the company said. President of the tobacco division of the JTI Group Mutsuo Iwai said that the factory in Senta was one of the facilities with the best per-formance within the company, globally speaking. Since 2006, the JTI has invest-ed over USD 181 mn in Serbia and the number of employees has increased fourfold, from 84 to 350, it was said yesterday.
