EBRD Provides EUR 85 Million Loan for Energy Efficiency in the Balkans

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced yesterday a launch of the new Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF) in Serbia, which is to provide households with loans for energy efficiency improvements, and the first two banks under the program have already offered loans worth EUR 10.2 million in total.

EBRD Regional Director for Serbia and the Western Balkans Zsuzsanna Hargitai said that the GEFF credit line in Serbia came under the EBRD’s EUR 85 million Green Economy Financing Facility for the Western Balkans, where Serbia was getting the highest allocation out of that sum. UniCredit Bank and Erste Bank are the first two local part-ner financial institutions that have joined the program, signing credit lines of RSD 600 million (about EUR 5.1 million), each.
