JTI Launches New Production Line in Senta

Japan Tobacco International (JTI) launched on Thursday a new production line at Senta-based plant within an investment cycle worth USD 7 mln.

The cigarette packing line was launched by Serbia’s Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajić, Vojvodina Assembly Speaker Ištvan Pastor and president of Japan Tobacco Inc. Yasutake Tango. Apart from the new production line, JTI’s new in-vestment in Senta includes additional modern-ization of the plant’s mechanization, and inno-vation within its product portfolio. Mr. Tango stressed that JTI’s plant in Senta was the most successful out of the 27 plants that the compa-ny owns around the globe, adding that since 2006, the value of exports had amounted to USD 230 mln, whilst RSD 2 bln had been paid to the budget of the Republic of Serbia during the same period.
