VOJVODJANSKA BANKA DONATED 2.5 MILLION DINARS FOR RENEWAL OF MONASTERY HILANDAR
Vojvodjanska banka donated 2.5 million dinars today to the Holy Monastery Hilandar Foundation in Belgrade, intended for renewal of Monastery Hilandar, which was damaged in the fire in 2004.
The greatest fire in the history of Monastery Hilandar at Mount Athos broke out in March 2004, which destroyed and damaged nearly a half of the Monastery’s complex, immediately after which the Foundation initiated a great number of activities to renew the Monastery.
“We should all be aware of the role and significance of Hilandar in the culture and history of the Serbian people, but the entire Christianity as well, and as a socially-responsible company we wished to contribute by this donation to the preservation of the Orthodox culture in the modern world and preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of Monastery Hilandar”, emphasised Mr. Marinos Vathis, President of the Executive Board of Vojvodjanska banka when presenting the donation.
After the official presentation of the donation, the media were addressed by Mr. Milivoje Ranđić, Director of the Holy Monastery Hilandar Foundation, Mr. Miloš Stojkovićas well as by Mr. Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs., on whose initiative was launched this Charity campaign.
