Delhaize Serbia Financing Infrastructural Works in Stara Pazova

Delhaize Serbia and Stara Pazova municipality signed the agreement on financing construction of communal infrastructure in IV industrial zone of Stara Pazova municipality. The value of the investment is 1.66 million euros (without VAT) and Delhaize Company Serbia obliged to finance, with these funds, construction of sewerage network 3.5 km long, access road from the Stara Pazova - Nova Pazova roads junction, the Vojka - Stari Banovci junction, construction of roundabout on the access road and a part of sewerage network from Novi Banovci to distributive centre on the territory of Stara Pazova municipality.

"The agreement we are signing today is the result of a good cooperation with the local authorities in Stara Pazova, but it is also a confirmation of our strategic determination to develop on Serbian market, invest in constant growth and expand business network, as well as responsible business of our company in all areas. I am sure that new infrastructure will much facilitate everyday life to citizens of Stara Pazova and regional municipalities and settlements and that the distributive centre will make immeasurable contribution to economic development of municipality", stated John Kyritsis, the CEO of Delhaize Serbia

A signatory of the agreement with Delhaize Company is Directorate for Construction of Stara Pazova Municipality (Public Company), i.e. the manager, Mr Nedeljko Kovačević, and Đorđe Radinović, the Mayor of Stara Pazova municipality, was also present at the official ceremony as a host and an active participant of all former common ventures.

After his words of gratitude to the company at business and professional level, he reminded of the very beginning of the cooperation and numerous efforts, patience and work which had been fulfilled by local authorities, its departments, especially Directorate for Construction, in order to provide all the support which was necessary for a demanding but also reliable investor like Delhaize Serbia.

"We are looking forward to continued cooperation with Delhaize Company Serbia which will indirectly contribute to further economic development of Stara Pazova municipality with the upcoming infrastructural arrangement. We are proud of the former results and we still want to build better future of Stara Pazova municipality with common and committed work", stated Nedeljko Kovačević while signing the mentioned agreement.

Delhaize Company Serbia started construction of distributive centre in April 2013, whose surface is 70,000 square metres with the possibility to enlarge the capacity further up to 125,000 square metres in the years to come. Distributive centre will hire more than 750 people and 50 million euros have been invested in its construction so far. When the work is finished, the distributive centre will be connected to three key roads and it will have 100 spots for loading and unloading where 25 trucks will be able to start journey from. The distributive centre will be able to deliver 6,500 pallets every day, which is the amount big enough for supplying 450 stores and increase of retail network of Delhaize Company Serbia. The centre will be ready for use by the end of 2014. Delhaize Company Serbia is a member of international retail chain Delhaize Group, whose headquarter is in Belgium and it operates on three continents; Europe, America and Asia. Delhaize Serbia operates through Maxi supermarket, Mini Maxi, Tempo, Tempo Express and Shop & Go, and the whole network has 380 retail stores.
