New Telecom & IT Committee Vice President
On its meeting on September 21, the Telecom and IT Committee elected Marko Jovic, Regulatory and Institutional Affairs Manager in Vip mobile, as Vice President.
We therefore use this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to Marko for accepting the role of Telecom and IT Committee Vice President, thus committing himself of investing significant energy and efforts to the Committee’s work. Marko Jovic has extensive experience in regulatory and implementation issues in the sector, being for more than 8 years now in Vip Mobile, where he is currently responsible for managing Regulatory and Institutional Affairs. His duties include: supporting company’s management board in regulations of electronic communication market, monitoring and participating in the development of Serbian regulations and harmonization with relevant EU directives; cooperation with the main stakeholders, governmental agencies, RATEL and Ministries of Republic of Serbia, and other electronic communications operators in Serbia and abroad; working on creating strategy for improvement of the legislatives relevant for electronic communications development, such as infrastructure and construction, payment services and environment protection. He also represents Vip mobile in professional associations and organizations such as American Chamber of Commerce, NALED, RNIDS and Serbian Chamber of Commerce. At the Committee meeting, Marko Jovic reminded of the challenges faced during the past decade related to the lack of regulations and several series of laws and by laws. “As the challenges persist, I think this position and more generally presence of Vip in FIC, still require our full engagement, and that we still have lot to contribute to the benefit of the participants at the market”, he told. As one of the key challenges ahead he cited passing of new Law on Electronic Communication and overcoming some issues stemming from previous period. Marko Jovic gathered majority of votes. Elections for the new Vice President were organized as the outgoing VP Vera Nikolic Dimic has withdrawn due to maternity leave.
