Anti-Illicit Trade Committee Elected Leadership

Anti-Illicit Trade Committee elected leadership and agreed on main topics for a two-year programme at the meeting on May 17. Dragan Penezic, Government Affairs Manager at British American Tobacco South East Europe, was elected as Committee President while Nenad Radenkovic, Director of Sector for Coordination of Projects at Naftna Industrija Srbije, was re-elected as a Committee Vice President. We therefore use this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to both Dragan and Nenad for accepting the roles of AITC President and Vice President, thus committing themselves to two years of investing significant energy and efforts to the AIT Committee work.

New Committee President Dragan Penezic is Government Affairs Manager in British American Tobacco South East Europe, in charge of Serbia and Montenegro. Presenting himself at the meeting, Dragan Penezic said that he spent the major part of his career in the state institutions, including the positions of Assistant Minister for Foreign Economic Relations and Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Services. After this experience, he spent 7 years in the Competition Protection Commission. Anti-Illicit trade is in his focus since 2016, when he started his engagement in British American Tobacco. As new Committee President explained, the company operates in the sector which is among those most hit by the illicit trade. When it comes to the Committee Programme, Dragan Penezic said that FIC should keep the current direction as this is a good one, and try to position itself as one of the key players in the fight against grey economy. As other priorities, he outlined better connection between the state bodies in charge of this issue and business sector and raising awareness of citizens of the importance of this topic.

Re-elected Committee Vice President Nenad Radenkovic from NIS has more than 15 years experience in various companies and state institutions, including Agency for Restitution, Cabinet of the Prime Minister, Hypo Alpe Adria Bank, Focus Capital Partners and Privatization Agency. He is in NIS since 2013 at the position of Director of Sector for coordination of projects. When it comes to the priorities for the Committee, Nenad Radenkovic said that the current focus should be kept. Results are visible, he said, as the state and its top officials recognized this area as one of the key importance. Active cooperation with the state institutions and international ones is of key importance, he said.

New chairmen thanked Goran Pekez for successfully heading Committee’s activities in the previous years, becoming the most recognizable promoter of this issue in the business sector. Goran Pekez, currently FIC BoD member, said he would continue to actively promote this issue of high importance. Members agreed in principle on the priorities for the next two-year period, and agreed to finalize two-year programme based on the proposals of the Committee President and Vice President.
