FIC Views Promoted to the EU Financed SIGMA
At the meeting in Metropol with the EU financed joint EU and OECD initiative SIGMA on March 8, FIC outlined three key priorities: accelerating important structural reforms, especially privatization and corporatization of state-owned enterprises; better law implementation; and continuing efficient harmonization of Serbian laws with EU Acquis.
FIC was represented by Communication Officer Milica Djordjevic who outlined that, compared to the last few years, FIC is now more often consulted regarding the changes of all important laws. More importantly, nowadays the quality of public debates is brought to the higher level, she said. When it comes to the impact on business reforms and improvement on the WB Doing Business Rank, she conveyed that huge progress was noted in some areas such as real-estate with introduction of electronic permits, while moderate or no tangible progress was noted in some other areas. The purpose of the SIGMA visit to Belgrade was to conduct a series of meetings with both business sector and state institutions in order to finalize their report on progress of public administration reform in Serbia. SIGMA was represented among others by Public Financial Manager Brian Finn and Senior Adviser for Public Procurement Erika Bozzay, while other participants included representatives of SCC and Serbian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.
