Infrastructure & Industrialization Committee Established
At the meeting on March 9, newest FIC Committee, Infrastructure and Industrialization Committee, elected leadership. Partner at Petrikic and Partneri in cooperation with CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz Djordje Popovic was elected as President, while Regional Director at SGS Group Marinko Ukropina was elected as Committee Vice President on a two-year mandate. We therefore use this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to Djordje and Marinko for accepting the roles of Infrastructure and Industrialization Committee Chairmen, thus committing themselves to two years of investing significant energy and efforts to the Committee’s work. It is especially true having in mind the role they will play in establishing the new Committee as a partner to the stakeholders in the sector. Committee members agreed to provide the proposals for the two-year programme and adopt in upcoming period, in order to ensure that the agenda really corresponds to the members’ needs.
Committee President Djordje Popovic outlined the need of cooperation with other committees as dealing with the industry and infrastructure may imply issues also tackled by other committees. Committee Vice President Marinko Ukropina said that he is convinced that he and Djordje Popovic will constitute a good team, especially having in mind the complementarities of their legal, technical and business knowledge.
Djordje is a partner at Petrikic and Partners for seven years, where he is in the past couple of years mostly dealing with infrastructure, energy and regulated industries’ projects. His engagement includes some of the most prominent projects on the market. He also contributed to the development of Serbian legislation in these sectors as part of the EU and EBRD projects of the harmonization of legislation with the EU. In his career, Djordje acquired more than a decade of relevant experience in the region in all aspects of infrastructure, real estate and project finance law. He advised in number of prominent transactions in the CEE region, and his clients include international organizations, State, as well as some of the largest companies on the market. Since 2012 he is also a lecturer in legal ethics at the Faculty Law at Belgrade University, and is a member of Belgrade and Serbia Bar Associations, AmCham and Konrad Adenauer Fellowship. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Belgrade University, where he also became a specialist for Security Law, and now does PhD studies in jurisprudence. Meanwhile, he completed Master of European Studies at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universitat at Bonn, and was admitted in the Serbian Bar Association as Attorney at Law.
Marinko has abundant and diversified career of more than three and a half decades, and played a leading role in establishment of the SGS in Serbia. After successful positioning of the company as a leader in its field, he was appointed Regional Managing Director covering also Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia. Prior to his engagement with SGS, he was operating the company AQA Consulting for quality management that he founded in 1993. From 1987 to 1993 he worked in the Jugoinspekt Beograd at the positions of Senior Inspector, Head of Electrical Equipment sector and Director of Industry Sector. Marinko started his professional career in Minel in 1987. During his career Marinko attended many international courses, and is member of SAM, AmCham, Naled, DSW, and also President of Swiss-Serbia Chamber of Commerce.
