FOREIGN INVESTORS COUNCIL AND GOVERNMENT FORMED TASK FORCE FOR IMPROVEMENT OF THE BUSINESS CLIMATE

Belgrade, January 31 2016 – The Foreign Investors Council and the Government formed the Task Force for implementation of the Foreign Investors Council's “White Book” recommendations.

“The key goal of the Task Force is to go through implementation of the “White Book” recommendations in order to improve competitiveness of the Serbian market and thus foster expansion of the existing and stimulate attracting of new investments, contribute to economic growth and decrease of unemployment” said FIC President Yana Mikhailova.

She praised the collaboration with the Government and expressed belief that formation and efficient work of the Task Force will contribute to raise in level of realization of the White Book recommendations from the current 35-45 % to 50% on the annual basis.

 “Formation of this Task Force is the result of continuous collaboration with the Government and the relationship based on trust that we have been building through constructive exchange of opinions, openness and consistency in dialogue” concluded FIC President.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Prof PhD Zorana Mihajlovic, says that entry into top 10 countries in World Bank Doing Business list that executed most reforms showed that reforms in Serbia are successfully carried out and she gives an example of introduction of electronic building permit, which today in average is issued in six days. ”Working closely with business representatives, in two years Serbia progressed for more than 40 places in the Doing Business list. Forming of the Task Force for implementation of the“White Book” recommendationsis the way to work more efficiently together and to faster improve business conditions in Serbia”, said Mihajlovic.

Task Force will be chaired by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, DPM Zorana Mihajlovic would be a Deputy President, and it will consist of six ministers with economic portfolio, FIC Board members and FIC Executive Director.

Moreover, Task Force will form expert sub-groups consisting of FIC Committee chairmen and representatives of state institutions.

The White Book is the major product of the Foreign Investors Council by which, year-on year, for 14 and a half years, FIC gives recommendations aimed at supporting growth of business activities and better living standard of Serbian citizens. FIC members, who are the driving engine of the Serbian market, have invested their knowledge and expertise in this project in order to assist Serbia in creating more attractive and sustainable business environment and achieving swifter integration into EU economy.

About FIC: FIC continues to expand, gathering over 130  companies who have invested over EUR 28.7 billion, contributed to 21.7% of GDP, 22.2% of Serbian exports, 18% of Serbian corporate income tax state revenue, and directly employ over 94,000 people in Serbia. The association is continuously growing - in the past year investments grew by €5.2 billion, while direct GDP share increased by 3.7% in the period of last two years, based on further growth and inflow of new members. FIC main goal is to influence the improvement of business climate in Serbia by making concrete reform proposals and building a business portal for communication with the authorities in Serbia. White Book

White Book
Published yearly since 2003, goal of the White Book is to enable removing unneeded barriers and make doing business in Serbia easier, thus enabling better inflow of investments. It is promoted every year in the fourth quarter at the prestigious high-level event.
