Constructive Conflict Resolution

This program develops competence (attitudes, knowledge and skills) for constructive conflict management and advances strategies (constructive, efficient and effective) of communication at the work place. Successfully managing conflicts is one of the key elements which affect motivation of employees, team work, successful people management and levels of individual achievements.


  • Nature of conflicts, its constructive and deconstructive potential and the psychological mechanisms which act in a conflict.
  • Styles of behaviour in a conflict, strengths and weaknesses of each style.
  • Conflict mapping skills.
  • Developing attitudes and skills which support win-win resolutions.
  • Steps of cooperation as a solution style for conflicts.
  • Communicational skills – active listening, assertiveness, me-messages...
  • Exercise for reality – business theatre based on case studies of attendants.

Methodology and approach

The methodology of the training is based on experienced learning from David Kolb which consists of four steps:

  • Going through experienced exercises/games/simulations created with a specific educational goal.
  • Exchanging and discussing after exercises, using knowledge and experiences from the group.
  • Theoretical bounds for certain phenomena (concept, input)
  • Planning the steps learned in experience, or actually the daily lives of an employee in a company.

Other than the classic methodology of informal education (simulations, exercises, individual and team work, big group discussions, small group discussions, tests and interpretation tests), theatre methodology is used. Business theatre is using theatre techniques and knowledge for the education of employees. Conflicts and theatre are closely related – there is a whole series of theatre techniques which instigate the understanding of conflict situations which would not be able to be solved in any other way.
